CAMPUS SEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO AID IN SEARCH PROCESS FOR NEXT PRESIDENT OF DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY

Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Hank M. Bounds and Delta State University Board Search Committee Chair announced today the Campus Search Advisory Committee to aid in the search for the next president of Delta State University.

“The Board was very fortunate to receive nominations for many qualified individuals and we appreciate all those who nominated someone to serve on this important committee,” said Alan Perry, DSU Board Search Committee. “After reviewing the nominations, I am confident that we have an excellent group to help us find the best possible person to lead Delta State University and continue its legacy of leadership and service to its students and the Delta region.”

The DSU Campus Search Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday, September 13, 2012 for a luncheon and organizational meeting. The meeting will be held from11:50 a.m. until 1:50 p.m. in the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni-Foundation House, located on the Delta State University campus, located at 1003 West Sunflower Road in Cleveland, Miss. Members of the Campus Search Advisory Committees will participate in the campus listening sessions, which will include discussions on the qualities and qualifications stakeholders believe the next institutional executive officers should possess. 

The Campus Listening Sessions will be held in the Henry J. Jacob Conference Center on the Delta State University campus, 1003 West Sunflower Road in Cleveland on Thursday, September 13, 2012. The sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 2:50 p.m. While all sessions are open to the public, students will be given preference during the 2:00 p.m. – 2:50 p.m. session due to the majority of students having morning classes.

Students are welcome to attend any session. However, because most students have morning classes, students will be given preference during this session.

Applicants for the position may apply until October 19, 2012, for best consideration. For more information on the application process, visit the Parker Executive Search Web site.

Following the best consideration deadline, Campus Search Advisory Committee members will submit at least five candidates unranked to the Board Search Committee and select the Interview Search Advisory Committee. The Board will select the candidates to be interviewed.

The candidates for president of Delta State University will be interviewed later this fall, with a campus visit by the preferred candidate to follow.
