Encouraging staff members to think healthy and be healthy, the agencies and organizations housed in the Education Research Center of Mississippi in Jackson have banded together to provide a comprehensive health fair for all employees. The health fair will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and is free to all employees of the sponsoring organizations.
The organizations involved in planning the event include Mississippi Public Broadcasting, Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, Mississippi Library Commission, Mississippi Community College Board, and Motivating Mississippi – Keys to Healthy Living powered by Web MD Health Services.
The activities include health screenings, including blood pressure, body mass index, cholesterol, glucose and bone density. The screenings will take place in the Mississippi Public Broadcasting Auditorium. A number of businesses and organizations will provide information on nutrition and exercise and provide tips and tools for healthy living. The informational booths will be available in the lobby of the Education Research Center Commons.
In addition, Mississippi Blood Services will have a bus on-site for a blood drive during the Health Fair. The Education Research Center is located at 3825 Ridgewood Road in Jackson.
