Event: The JSU/NASA Educator Resource Center will sponsor the workshop "Do you want to work for NASA?" for college students majoring in science, engineering and technology. MISSISSIPPI UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN

Event: The campus recreation office and departments of health and kinesiology and nursing at MUW are hosting Fit Night 2010. Community members are invited to participate in fitness class demonstrations and share their exercise and diet questions with fitness and nutrition experts. Fit Night 2010 also kicks off a free, 12-week wellness program called Healthy U, which will assist participants in meeting their health objectives for 2010. Participants in Fit Night 2010 will have the opportunity to participate if fitness class demonstrations including Zumba, Pilates, Dynamic Duo, yoga and will get a first look at MUW's cycling cave, where spinning classes will be held. The cycling cave is a new addition to the recreation fitness program. A free trial week will be offered. Jan. 25-30. For more information, call campus recreation at (662) 241-7494.

Event: The Science Enrichment Program at MUW will host a workshop titled Backyard Astronomy, where participants will explore the stars. The session will begin with guest instructor David Teske of Rainwater Observatory reviewing major stargazing, constellation and moon observation concepts. Guided observation of the night sky will follow and participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, telescopes and outdoor chairs. Event: MUW welcomes "Functional Relationships," a national juried ceramics exhibition. Participating clay artists were challenged to create a group of functional objects that have visual and/or utilitarian harmony. Out of 125 entries, 38 pieces were chosen for display. Jurors are Matt Long, ceramics professor at the University of Mississippi, and Robert Long, ceramics professor at Mississippi State University.
