Various committee meetings have been scheduled to advance the search by the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) for the next Commissioner of Higher Education.
Members of the Commissioner Search Advisory Committee will meet with executive search consultants with Parker Executive Search to review and discuss all candidate resumes and identify no fewer than five names to forward to the Commissioner Board Search Committee for possible interviews. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2009, beginning at 10:30 a.m., in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. The Commissioner Search Advisory Committee was formed by the IHL Board to assist with the Board's search for the next Commissioner of Higher Education and is chaired by University of Mississippi Chancellor Robert Khayat. The Search Advisory Committee is also expected to announce the names of its members who will join the IHL Board throughout the remainder of the interview process. This representative group will be referred to as the Interview Search Advisory Committee.
A teleconference will take place on Friday, May 8, beginning at 2:00 p.m., in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, Mississippi 39211, for the combined Commissioner Board Search Committee/Interview Search Advisory Committee to discuss candidates and related issues. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
