On Friday, March 6, 2009, the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning's (IHL) Board Search Committee for the next Mississippi Commissioner of Higher Education, chaired by Trustee Ed Blakeslee of Gulfport, together with Interim Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Aubrey K. Lucas, will meet with various groups regarding the Commissioner search. The purpose of the meetings is to hear what qualities various constituencies want to see in Mississippi's next Commissioner of Higher Education. These qualities will be considered for the profile and job description for the position. The meetings will held in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS, 39211 (except where indicated) and are open to the media. The schedule is as follows:
Members of the general public who are not able to attend the 4:00 p.m. listening session but who are interested in submitting their ideas on the qualities of the next Commissioner of Higher Education may do so by filling out the Search Feedback Form located here.
In addition, at the recommendation of Interim Commissioner Dr. Aubrey K. Lucas, Board President Amy Whitten, Chair of the Board Search Committee for the position of Chancellor at the University of Mississippi, and Trustee Ed Blakeslee, Chair of the Board Search Committee for the position of Commissioner of Higher Education, have selected Parker Executive Search to serve in the role of executive search consultant for both positions.
