The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) will hold its regular monthly meeting next Wednesday and Thursday, April 19 and 20, in the Cochran Hall Reception Room at the Mississippi University for Women (MUW), Thad and Rose Cochran Hall, Welty Drive, on the MUW campus, 1100 College Street, Columbus, Mississippi. The agenda includes over 8,500 degrees to be conferred system-wide, modification to existing academic programs and approval of continued accreditation of nursing degree programs. The Board will also discuss the funding allocation for 2007 and consider the possibility of a tuition increase to compensate for budgetary shortfalls and other unaddressed needs, such as the substantial cost of utilities.
The full Board will convene Wednesday, April 19, at 1:30 p.m. Various Board committee meetings, including Educational Policies and Programs; Budget; Finance and Audit; Real Estate and Facilities; Legal; and Governance will meet as part of the Board meeting. The Board meeting will continue Thursday, April 20, with the full Board convening at 8:30 a.m. An Executive Session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
Under the leadership of the Board of Trustees, IHL governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
