The Mississippi Commission on College Accreditation (MCCA) is set to host its first statewide meeting on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Holmes Community College-Ridgeland Campus for institutions participating in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA).

The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. in Room 130 of the Pat McGowan Workforce Building on the Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus, 412 W. Ridgeland Ave. Ridgeland, Miss. 39157.

MCCA will welcome more than 60 staff members and administrators who manage or assist with SARA at their institutions. Several presenters from throughout Mississippi will address the history of SARA, state regulations, legal and ethical issues, the SARA renewal process, professional licensure, and the new policy for nursing clinical placements. Presenters include Dr. Kim Verneuille, Dr. Krista LeBrun, and Dr. Christa Wilhite, Mississippi Community College Board; Kenneth M. Heard, III, University of Mississippi Medical Center; Jennifer Lewis, University of Southern Mississippi; Anne Klingen, University of Mississippi; Dr. Shanna Murray Luke, William Carey University; Dr. Josie Welsh, Delta State University; and Dr. Melissa Temple, Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.

SARA is an agreement between member states, districts and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate postsecondary distance education. According to the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, more than 2,300 institutions in 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands participate in SARA.
