2/1/2017 - Jackson, Miss.
Officials from Mississippi's public universities and community colleges will participate in a workshop focused on helping adult students reach their educational goals. The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Clyde Muse Center, Hinds Community College, 515 Country Place Parkway in Pearl. The workshop will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m.
The workshop, Mississippi's Adult Learner Services Analysis Planning Workshop, will help universities and community colleges set the stage for creating an institutional team, assist in defining adult students, and determine the context and supports necessary for implementation. The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning will present at the workshop and will also help each of the community colleges and universities implement an Adult Learner Focused Institution (ALFI) toolkit. The toolkit is comprised of two instruments: the Institutional Self-Assessment Survey and the Adult Learner Inventory.
The workshop is being held as part of the Complete 2 Compete initiative, a statewide program focused on encouraging Mississippi adults who have completed some college credit but did not complete a degree to return to college and earn a degree.
