Dr. Alfred E. McNair Jr. was appointed to the Board by Governor Phil Bryant in May 2015 to represent the Second (Southern) Supreme Court District for a term to expire May 7, 2024.
Dr. McNair is a board certified gastroenterologist and owner of Digestive Health Center, PA in Ocean Springs, Miss. He graduated summa cum laude from Tougaloo College with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. Dr. McNair attended medical school at Columbia University, completed his medical residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, and completed gastroenterology fellowships at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and Stanford University.
Dr. McNair is chief of medical staff at Biloxi Regional Medical Center. He served as a member of the Mississippi State Board of Health from 2002-2005, and as vice chairman of the Board of Health from 2006-2009. He is also the president and founder of Mississippi Coast Physicians, LLC, Mississippi Center for Autism and Related Developmental Disabilities, and Savannah Pines, LLC. Since 1997, Dr. McNair has served as a member of the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA). He currently serves on speaker bureaus for several pharmaceutical companies including AbbVie Pharmaceuticals, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, UCB, and Abbott Laboratories.
Dr. McNair serves on an assortment of professional boards and commissions such as the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Advisory Board, the Mississippi State Medical Association, the National Medical Association, the Biloxi Regional Medical Center Physician Leadership Council and Medical Executive Committee, as well as the HMA National Physician Leadership Council.
Dr. McNair has maintained a strong connection to his community, currently serving as the President of the Accountable Care Coalition of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Corporate Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast, Delta Omicron Boule', and as a member of Xi Zeta Lambda Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Dr. McNair and his wife, Rhonda, live in Gautier and have a family of seven children and eight grandchildren.
